La exposición, Damien Hirst: New Spot Paintings and A Hundred Years, se inaugurará en la Galería Hilario Galguera de Ciudad de México el 5 de abril de 2024 y permanecerá abierta al público hasta el 12 de julio de 2024.
La muestra presenta más de 25 obras, entre ellas una selección de nuevas Spot Paintings de 2022, junto a tres de sus más icónicas instalaciones, incluyendo A Hundred Years, 1990, I Want to Spend the Rest of My Life Everywhere, with Everyone y One to One, Always, Forever, Now, 1991.
Las Spot Paintings de Hirst aparecieron por primera vez en 1986 y son famosas por sus coloridos puntos dispuestos en diferentes patrones. Cada pintura tiene un título único, a menudo extraído de un catálogo de productos químicos. Lo que comenzó como manchas experimentales pintadas a mano evolucionó hasta convertirse en un proceso refinado, que acoge el azar de las correlaciones del color y sus infinitas variaciones.
A Hundred Years, 1990, invita al espectador a un espacio contemplativo, donde la naturaleza transitoria de la existencia queda plasmada dentro de un biosistema de cristal. Un enjambre de moscas navega por un laberinto de mortalidad dentro de una caja de cristal de dos compartimentos, simbolizando la fragilidad de la vida y las decisiones que tomamos.
I Want to Spend the Rest of My Life Everywhere, with Everyone, One to One, Always, Forever, Now, 1991 muestra una pelota de ping-pong flotando sostenida por una compresora de aire. La instalación representa cómo todos estamos conectados de una manera universal, haciendo hincapié en las relaciones humanas.

The exhibition, Damien Hirst: New Spot Paintings and A Hundred Years, will open at Galeria Hilario Galguera in Mexico City on 5 April 2024 and will run until 12 July 2024.
The show features over 25 artworks including a selection of new spot paintings from 2022, alongside celebrated works including A Hundred Years (1990) and I Want to Spend the Rest of My Life Everywhere, with Everyone, One to One, Always, Forever, Now (1991).
Hirst’s Spot Paintings first appeared in 1986 and are famous for their colourful dots arranged in different patterns. Each painting has a unique title, often taken from a chemical catalogue. What began as experimental hand-painted spots evolved into a refined process, embracing the randomness of colour correlations and infinite variations.
A Hundred Years (1990) invites viewers into a contemplative space, where the transient nature of existence is captured within a glass biosystem. Flies navigate a maze of mortality within a glass box of two compartments, symbolising the fragility of life and the choices we make.
I Want to Spend the Rest of My Life Everywhere, with Everyone, One to One, Always, Forever, Now (1991) features ping-pong balls floating in the air, held up by a jet of air. It represents Hirst’s idea of being connected to everyone and everything in the world. This piece explores themes of relationships and human connection.
